It is with great sadness we share that Fred Fisher passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. Fred, beloved by his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends, was highly respected as a visionary leader and a devoted community advocate. He will be deeply missed by many, and remembered for his unparalleled and long lasting contributions to the ALS community.

With tenacity and focus, Fred served the ALS community as president and CEO of ALS Golden West, now the ALS Network, from July 2003 to January 2024. Fred then became the organization’s first president emeritus. 

Implementing dynamic and innovative programs and initiatives to advance research, advocacy and quality care services for people living with ALS, and their loved ones, during Fred’s tenure the ALS Network became one of the largest ALS non-profit organizations in the US. 

Fred’s ingenuity, compassion, and unwavering commitment benefited tens of thousands of people, and has shaped the ALS Network’s responsive, strategic, collaborative and transparent approach to serving the ALS community and accelerating the search for cures.
