Why I Run ...
I will be participating in ALS Golden West's Running Bitcoin Challenge. I run to support those affected by ALS/MND and to spread awareness for the urgency to find treatments and cures.
What is ALS?
ALS is also knowen as Motor Neurone Disease (MND). It's full name is Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) it's a progressive, fatal, neurodegenerative disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
Why We Urgently Need Your Help
ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, age, or socioeconomic boundaries.
- The average life expectancy of an ALS patient is two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
- Every 90 minutes someone in teh US is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease.
- There are no known cures and only modestly effective treatments.
- Caring for a loved one with ALS costs families an average of $250,000 USD each year.
