Welcome to My Personal Page. F#*k ALS.
Why I'm Participating...
In January of this year we lost Mom to a very fast and aggressive form of ALS (Bulbar onset ALS). It was the hardest year of our lives having to watch the strongest, toughest woman we've known struggle with the simplest things: first swallowing, then coughing, losing the ability to walk, eat and drink, and then worst of all her ability to speak. Throughout her journey, we were moved by the care she received from the ALS organization. They provided comforts we didnt know we would need: breathing machines, suction machines, a state of the art power wheelchair custom fit for her body, communication devices and even emotional support for our family when things got dark.
I'm participating in this annual event for the SOCAL RIDE & RALLY TO CURE ALS because I've seen first hand what our donations can do to help those who suffer from ALS.
Please consider donating to not only help find a cure for ALS, but to help provide people with what they need to LIVE while they fight.
I LOVE YOU MOM, we're doing this for you!
I participate to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness for the urgency to find treatments and cures.
What is ALS?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of it's ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
Why We Need Your Help
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
1. The average life expectancy of an ALS patient is two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
2. Every 90 minutes someone in this country is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease.
3. ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease. Someone you know or love may die from ALS unless a cure is found.
4. Caring for a loved one with ALS costs on average of $200,000 each year.
