Riding for Hope: My Journey Against ALS
Hello everyone,
I’m Dan Rozzen. This year, I’m joining the SoCal Ride and Rally to Cure ALS. It’s a cause close to my heart. My dad, David Rozzen, battled ALS. His fight and courage inspire me every day.
Why am I here?
I’m riding to remember my dad and to help others fighting ALS. This disease took away his ability to move and speak, but it never took his spirit. Now, I want to help in the fight against ALS.
ALS is tough. It’s also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. It slowly stops the body from moving, speaking, swallowing, and breathing. But the person’s mind stays sharp. It’s a hard disease, and it can happen to anyone.
Here’s why we need to stick together:
- People with ALS usually live 2 to 5 years after they find out they have it.
- Every 90 minutes, someone in the U.S. gets ALS or dies from it.
- There’s no known cause of ALS right now, which means it could affect anyone.
- Looking after someone with ALS can cost about $200,000 every year.
I’m riding not just for a cure, but to honor my dad and everyone else affected by ALS. Each mile I ride is for them.
I need your support. Your help means a lot. It goes to research, helps families, and gets us closer to a cure.
Join me. Let’s make a big difference together. With each pedal, we’re one step closer to beating ALS.
Thanks for your support. It means a lot to me and everyone fighting ALS.
Best,
Dan Rozzen
