Why I'm Participating...
On May 12, 2022, I lost my husband, our sons lost their father, our grandson lost his “Pops”,John Lowery, to ALS. John fought valiantly and courageously against this undefeatable disease. He was a true warrior, battling each day with determination and courage. Our lives have been forever changed.
Please consider helping me find A CURE FOR ALS.
Our local ALS chapter, ALS Network (formerly the ALS Golden West chapter) was our biggest supporter during John’s battle. They provided counseling for both of us, support groups, and assisted us in securing medical equipment as it was needed. They were indispensable to John as a patient and to me as his caregiver.
Any donations to the ALS Network would be greatly appreciated by us. If you would like to join my team and participate on May 4 I would love to have you join us.
Thank you for your consideration. Let’s find a cure so future families won’t have to suffer through the perils of this unforgiving disease!
Thank you,
Kathleen, Zach, Luke, and Emerson
I will be participating in the 8th Annual SoCal Ride & Rally to Cure ALS with the ALS Network to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness for the urgency to find treatments and cures.
What is ALS?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of it's ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
Why We Need Your Help
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
1. The average life expectancy of an ALS patient is two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
2. Every 90 minutes someone in this country is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease.
3. ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease. Someone you know or love may die from ALS unless a cure is found.
4. Caring for a loved one with ALS costs on average of $250,000 each year.
