The Running Bitcoin Challenge is THE EVENT that combines Hal Finney's love of running and Bitcoin and is raising funds and awareness to help defeat ALS, which claimed his life.
You are challenged to run (or walk, roll, or hike) the equivalent of a half marathon - cumulatively or all at once - whenever you like in 2024.
From wherever you are, spread the word about Bitcoin, participate in a healthy activity, and feel good about doing your part to defeat ALS.
Why We Run...
We will be participating in ALS Golden West's Running Bitcoin Challenge. We run to support those affected by ALS/MND and to spread awareness for the urgency to find treatments and cures.
What is ALS?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
Why We Urgently Need Your Help
ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, age, or socioeconomic boundaries.
- The average life expectancy of an ALS patient is two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
- Every 90 minutes someone in this country is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease.
- There are no known cures and only modestly effective treatments.
- Caring for a loved one with ALS costs families an average of $250,000 each year.
Every dollar donated moves us closer to effective treatments and cures for ALS.
