Hi, I’m Ginger Armistead.

I am participating in the Hawaii Walk to Defeat ALS. I’m trying to do everything I can to make my impact on this disease. I have a very personal reason to walk and raise money - I am walking in honor of my husband Mike "Moose". June 28, 2019 is the day he was diagnosed with ALS. It was not the diagnosis we wanted but the one we were given.

 Will you join the movement dedicated to unlocking the mysteries of one of the world’s most complex neurological diseases that can strike anyone at any time? Neurological disease is everyone’s issue. Since the diagnosis we are focusing on what we can do; not what we can't. He can build a gate, go on vacation, fix the water heater, plant a flower bed and much more. " The stressors of ALS come and go but mostly they come", a wise woman of the Golden West Chapter of ALS Association told me.  Only together we will defeat ALS. We may not be able to gather in person this year, but nothing can stop us from being together to create a world without ALS. Will you join me?

WHY I WALK 

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure. 

A person with ALS becomes physically locked-in as the disease progressively paralyzes the body. The key to UNLOCK ALS begins with us.
