Team Silent Prayers Has Raised OVER $75,000 to Help Support the Fight Against ALS!
The 2023 East Bay Walk to Defeat ALS will be my 14th fundraising walk for the Golden West Chapter. My Dad was diagnosed in 2009 and My Family quickly became acquainted with the MANY services that The ALS Association offers. We attended monthly Support Groups to gain knowledge of the upcoming changes that would need to be made. My Dad attended quarterly Multi-Disciplinary Clinic visits at Forbes Norris in San Francisco to better track symptoms and ease discomfort. Our Family organizes MANY fundraisers throughout the year, preparing for this major event - The East Bay Walk to Defeat ALS is an annual fundraising event. This event brings our family and friends together, creating awareness, walking for a cure.
ALS Golden West is on of the only non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig's Disease on every front. The ALS Association leads the way in research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy, giving help and hope to those facing the disease. The Association's nationwide network of chapters provides comprehensive patient services and support to the ALS community. The mission of The ALS Association is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global cutting-edge research, and to empower people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
ALS Golden West needs our help, and so do all the ALS patients past, present, & future.
I was blessed to have an AMAZINGLY strong Dad that LOVED me MORE than life itself ... My Dad was INCREDIBLY talented and EXTREMELY knowledgeable; the kind of guy you'd ask for advice and trust ANYTHING he said was 100% factual, and to top it off - he was EXCEEDINGLY funny & witty. Carpentry / Wood-Work was My Dad's passion, he built our family a custom home in 1993; I like to share with people that "My Dad literally put a roof over my head"! Needless to say, My Dad was a physically-fit man, always moving and using his hands - ALS took away his ability to create & design with wood, but he NEVER let ALS take his soul! I've been told that My Dad held a "speed record" in the Ygnacio Valley High School parking lot (he never confirmed or denied) - he was a member of a Car Club and his "Thrill-Seeking" personality stayed prominent until the end, racing around in his powerchair, doing donuts, and jumping curbs ...
Every girl dreams of her wedding day, a beautiful white dress, a stunning Prince Charming, love and support from her Mother and closest Friends and having her Daddy walk her down the aisle ...
I married my Best Friend Matt on May 28, 2012 and I knew that I had My Dad's blessing even though he was resting peacefully just down the hall ...
I Walk In Memory of My Dad, William "Butch" Walsh (May 29, 2012)
"Daddy was a carpenter, he loved us with his hands that gave us food and shelter Lord, as only hard work can. And now another carpenter with ever gentler hands, who learned his trade so long ago, in strange and distant lands; He's leading Daddy on his way to the one who made us all, he needed one more carpenter and daddy heard his call."
NEVER GIVE UP HOPE
