Hi, I’m Ginger Armistead.

I am participating in the Hawaii Walk & Roll to Cure ALS. I’m trying to do everything I can to make my impact on this disease. I have a very personal reason to walk and raise money - I am walking in honor of my husband Mike "Moose". June 28, 2019 is the day he was diagnosed with ALS. It was not the diagnosis we wanted but the one we were given.

 Will you join the movement dedicated to unlocking the mysteries of one of the world’s most complex neurological diseases that can strike anyone at any time? Neurological disease is everyone’s issue. Since the diagnosis we are focusing on what we can do; not what we can't. He can build a gate, go on vacation, fix the water heater, plant a flower bed and much more. " The stressors of ALS come and go but mostly they come", a wise woman of the ALS Network. Only together we will cure ALS. Nothing can stop us from being together. Will you join me?

Why I Participate...

I will be participating in the ALS Network's Walk & Roll to Cure ALS, because I'm committed to supporting those affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and to spreading awareness for the urgency to find treatment and cures.

What is ALS?  

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, ALS is a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disease that slowly robs a person of their ability to walk, speak, swallow, and, eventually, to breathe. 

Why We Urgently Need Your Help

Every 90 minutes, a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes, another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, gender, or socioeconomic boundaries.

1. The average life expectancy of a person with ALS is two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
2. ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease. Someone you know or love may be diagnosed in their lifetime.
3. For unknown reasons, military veterans are more likely to be diagnosed with the disease than the general public.
4. Caring for a loved one with ALS can cost an average of over $200,000 each year.
