Welcome to My Personal Page
It's that time again ... another fun, fabulous, and IMPORTANT ALS Ride to raise funds to defeat ALS.
We all know the Matt Chaney story ...
Matt Chaney defeated ALS in 2022, after a 22-year journey of learning to live with, work with, and combat ALS. Throughout the course of his physical decline, he kept up his mental and emotional acuities by remaining engaged with the world around him and by helping bring awareness about the importance of fundraising for cures, treatments and patient care.
I ride to honor my husband, my hero, the father of my children, my everything ... Matt Chaney.
What is ALS?
ALS is a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disease that slowly robs a person of their ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. It attempts to rob them of their dignity ... but Matt showed us how to avoid that.
Why We Urgently Need Your Help
Every 90 minutes, a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS. Every 90 minutes, another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
The average life expectancy of a person with ALS is 2-5 years.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease. Someone you know or love may be diagnosed in their lifetime.
For unknown reasons, military veterans are more likely to be diagnosed with the disease than the general public.
Caring for an ALS patient costs an average of $200,000/year.
Your Impact
Everything the ALS Network does ensures access to essential care services, free of charge, and accelerates the search for effective prevention strategies, treatments and cures for ALS. Fundraising and awareness are essential to fueling this progress.
