How do I register?
You can register online in three ways:
- Join a Team -- If you are joining an existing team that a friend started, you can search for your team and register yourself here.
- Start a Team -- If you plan to captain a new (or new to 2024) team and are ready to get the wheels rolling, get started here.
- Join as an Individual -- If you are signing up on your own, you can get started here.
What are the costs involved?
Each cyclist and walker joining us in person in Napa will pay a registration fee to secure their place in the Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS. This registration fee helps to pay for the expenses incurred to participate in the event (personal webpage set up, food and support on ride day, permitting of routes, etc.). See the registration fee schedule below:

Do I have to fundraise?
If you are a rider joining us in person in Napa, yes. All in person riders, 18 and older, are required to raise a minimum of $150, not including your registration fee, by the day of the event (September 14, 2024). If you are a first-time fundraiser or are interested in learning more, check out our Fundraising Tips and Tools . Our staff is another resource for you and we will be here for you at every step of the way! Don’t hesitate to reach out, and we can come up with a fundraising plan together! Virtual participants and volunteers are not required to fundraise for this event, however we encourage you to take a look at our fundraising tips and tools linked above to help us create a world without ALS!
What if I am participating as a rider in Napa, and I am not able to raise $150 by ride-day?
We have a solution for that! We will ask that you sign a "promise to pay" agreement, which will give you another six weeks following the ride to raise the remaining balance to reach $150. A lot of donors are moved to give after seeing photos and hearing about your experience at our event to make a difference in the lives of people with ALS. If, after those six weeks, you still owe a balance you will be charged per the agreement that you sign.
Can I register as an individual now and switch to a team later?
Of course! We can easily move you onto a team (or start a team for you) if you choose. Just email us at ride@alsnetwork.org.
Do I have to join a team?
Nope. You can participate as an individual or on a team! Whatever works best for you.
If others on my team raise more than $150 can that count toward my minimum?
No. Each individual is responsible for raising the $150 minimum that is reflected on their personal fundraising page.
Event Logistics
Is the Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS in-person this year?
YES! This year we are bringing together the best of both worlds -- the in-person event you know and love in Napa AND the accessibility of our virtual events. If you're able to join us in person, we can't wait to see you! If you're unable to join us in person, register as a Virtual Participant, participate your way and tune into the day from wherever you are! Our team is working hard to make both the in-person and virtual event-days AWESOME! If you have any ideas, please feel free to send them our way at ride@alsnetwork.org.
What if I can't make it to Napa for the in-person event?
Don't worry! This year, we are committed to creating an amazing event day experience for our virtual participants as well! For anyone who is unable to join us in Napa for whatever reason, simply register as a Virtual Participant, and participate YOUR WAY however you want, wherever you want! Throughout the day, our virtual participants will be able to tune in at our Startline, Festival, and maybe a little in between! If you're going to participate virtually, don't forget to let us know what your plan is so we can help make it the best event-day experience possible!
When does the in-person Ride start?
Each ride starts at a different time. We stagger our route start times strategically and along with permitting guidelines. Please check our Event Details page for up-to-date start times for each route option. Please plan to begin with your group time -- not before or after.
Is there an in-person walk this year?
YES! We are working hard to make the walk portion of the Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS better than ever before. Register today as a Walker!
Where are the start and finish locations?
The start and finish locations for the ride will be hosted at Justin-Siena High School, 4026 Maher St., Napa, CA 94558.
Is there a deadline for online registration?
Online registration will be closed between September 12 and 13. You can still register for the event on September 14 at Justin-Siena High School for $150.
Can I participate in the Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS if I am under 18?
Yes, all ages are welcome. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign their participation waiver during registration.
What if my family or friends want to join me?
Your family and friends are more than welcome to join you at the afternoon celebration. Lunch will cost $25 for friends and family members who do not participate in the ride or walk. If your friends and family are interested in getting more involved with the event, there are a number of volunteer opportunities for them to consider. Volunteers are an integral part of the success of Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS, and there are a variety of jobs throughout the weekend. Route Details
What are the route options?
For our cyclist, we offer a 100-mile route (century), TWO 62-mile route (metric century) -- one "lite" route and a challenge route, a 47-mile route, a 28-mile route, and a 9-mile route. You can check out all of the routes here. For any of our non-cyclists, we have a wheelchair friendly walk (leaving from the same location). Please note that all routes are subject to change pending jurisdiction approval. Not interested in riding or walking? Join us as a volunteer!
Will there be SAG support on the course / will there be rest stops?
Volunteer SAG “wagons” will be patrolling each route throughout the day. If you need assistance, give the standard "thumbs down" signal to indicate you need support.
How many rest stops will there be? How far apart are they?
Five Rest Stops are located throughout the routes. Each stop has porta-potties, water, snacks, and other goodies to help you refuel and re-energize for the next portion of your ride. Don't forget to thank the incredible volunteers who staff each Rest Stop! The following Rest Stop and Route info is from 2023 - it is subject to change for the 2024 Ride. Check back for updates.

Fundraising and Financial Questions
What is the deductibility of my donors' contribution?
ALS Network is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the law. Registration fees are not accepted as tax deductible.
What is the Ride & Walk to Cure ALS's Tax ID?
We will be using the Tax ID for ALS Network, which is 95-4163338.
How do I turn in donations made by cash or check?
Please include a note with your name and the event name (Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS) to ensure we give you full credit for your fundraising efforts. You can bring your donations to the event and hand them in at check-in, or you can mail your donations to the ALS Network office:

Is it safe to mail cash?
It is NOT safe to mail cash. To turn in cash, please bring it to the event. If you would prefer to convert it to a check to mail to the office, please include the donation form so that we can mail acknowledgement letters to your supporters.
What if my donors need a receipt?
All people who make an online donation via our website will receive an email confirmation that can be used for tax purposes. Those who send checks valued $100 or more will receive a thank you letter by mail that can be used for tax purposes. If you have a donor who needs a receipt, please let us know and we will be happy to provide one. Also, if you turn in donations within 2 weeks before or after the event, please let us know if one of those donors needs a receipt.
Do matching gifts count?
Employer matching gifts are a great way to double your fundraising. For detailed information about matching gifts, please refer to our Matching Gifts FAQ.

We work hard to make sure every dollar you donate has maximum impact on the fight against ALS. Your Personal Page
What is a Personal Page?
Your Personal Page is an online promotional tool to use when asking your friends and family to join your team or make a donation. Once you're registered, a personal page is automatically created for you. You can customize this page with photos and your personal story by logging into your Participant Center. Our staff is here to help you every step of the way.
How do I login to my Personal Page?
To login to your personal page, you will enter your username and password into the Participant Center Login Area at the top right of the Ride’s website. Once you’ve entered your username and password, you will be taken to the homepage of your Participant Center.
What if I forget my username or password?
If you do not remember your username that you set up during registration, just contact our staff and they can look it up for you. If you do not remember your password, the link under the login area will help you reset your password or you can always email us at ride@alsnetwork.org!
Do I have to change my Personal Page?
You don't have to, but we know from experience that the participant’s personal touch makes the page more compelling to prospective donors. Be creative and have fun with it. Please know we are here to help you do this.
How do I change my personal fundraising goal?
Login to your Participant Center. On the home page, you will see a box that is labeled "Your Fundraising Progress" with a button that says "Edit Goal" where you can change it. Or you can contact us and we can do it for you.
How can I see who has donated on my behalf?
Login to your Participant Center. On the homepage, scroll down until you see "Personal Donations". There you can see a list of your donors and download that list.

September is a very popular time in Napa Valley, so hotels go quickly! Our advice, if you find yourself facing this problem, is to book a room as early as possible, and don't shy away from options like Airbnb and VRBO.
