It's that time again ... time to honor Matt Chaney and our continuing efforts to end ALS! Please consider joining Hot Dawg! and/or donating to our team.

We all know the Matt Chaney story. Matt passed away in November 2022 after a 22-year battle with ALS. While ALS robbed Matt of his physicality, he never lost his dignity, inspiration and willingness to engage with the world. Fundraising for ALS Golden West was extremely important to Matt to support the efforts of finding a cure and treatments, and providing much needed patient care.
What is ALS?
ALS is a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disease that slowly robs a person of their ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. It attempts to rob them of their dignity ... but Matt show us how to avoid that.
We Urgently Need Your Help
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS. Every 90 minutes another person loses their battle with ALS. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic or socioeconomic boundaries.
- The average life expectancy of a person with ALS is 2-5 years.
- ALS can strike anyone. There is no known cause of the disease. Someone you know or love may be diagnosed in their lifetime.
- For unknown reasons, military veterans are more likely to be diagnosed than the general public.
- Caring for an ALS patient costs an average of $200,000/year.

Everything the ALS Network does ensures access to essential care services free of charge, and accelerates the search for effective prevention strategies, treatments, and cures for ALS. Fundraising and awareness are essential to fueling this progress.
