Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my page! Please consider donating what you are able in support of my efforts to end ALS.
Why I Participate...
I will be participating in the ALS Network’s Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS, because I’m committed to supporting those affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and to spreading awareness for the urgency to find treatments and cures.
In 2017, I promised a dear soul who had ALS I would learn to ride a bike to do this fundraiser. I already had experienced a friend who was living with ALS and knew of the the ride by supporting her team. Since 2017, not only did I learn to ride the bike, but I formed the Ain’t Too Proud To Beg Angels team and serviced as Team Captain! Each year we have had a different collection of individuals who have accompanied those affected by ALS, personally and/or professionally. And I hope one day there will not be a need to do this ride.
What is ALS?
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, ALS is a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disease that slowly robs a person of their ability to walk, speak, swallow, and, eventually, to breathe.
Why We Urgently Need Your Help
Every 90 minutes, a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes, another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
- The average life expectancy of a person with ALS is two to five years from the time of diagnosis.
- ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease. Someone you know or love may be diagnosed in their lifetime.
- For unknown reasons, military veterans are more likely to be diagnosed with the disease than the general public.
- Caring for a loved one with ALS costs an average of $200,000 each year.
Your Impact
Everything the ALS Network does ensures access to essential care services, free of charge, and accelerates the search for effective prevention strategies, treatments and cures for ALS. Fundraising and awareness are essential to fueling this progress.
