2024 Napa Valley Ride, Walk & Roll to Cure ALS
LMSa and Friends
Team LMSa and Friends is returning for our third year of the Napa Valley Ride Walk & Roll to Cure ALS, in memory of Marsha Maytum, our beloved firm leader, mentor, and partner. Marsha was a visionary in mission-driven, sustainable architecture, and was committed to using the power of design to address the biggest challenges of our time: the climate emergency and social justice. Her significant influence on the industry will continue to make a lasting impact, and her presence will be incredibly missed.
Marsha was diagnosed with ALS in October 2020. Upon her diagnosis, she extended her advocacy towards ALS research with the ALS Network (formerly the ALS Association Golden West Chapter). She noted, "There is SO much that we don’t understand about ALS, and it is clear that there are interrelationships between a great many illnesses and the environment." Her passion and advocacy for social justice issues extended to her community of people impacted by ALS, as she raised awareness of the fact that veterans and military personnel are twice as likely to have ALS than the general population.
Marsha passed away in February 2024. The memories of Marsha's strength, warmth, generosity, and seemingly endless well of energy to take on any challenge will fuel our team to reach our effort to raise $40,000 this year to fund ALS research, care, and navigate a path to a cure. Please consider donating or joining our team - we'd love to see you at our tent in September. In the words of Marsha at our weekly all-office meetings, "onward and upward!"
