Meet Cai Lei

Mr. Cai Lei is a fighter against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the author of the two-million-copy bestseller "To Believe", the initiator of the second Ice Bucket Challenge, the founder of the Overcoming ALS Charitable Trust and the founder of the "Ice Breaking Station" live streaming platform.

Mr. Cai Lei has previously served as a senior executive in multinational enterprises in various industries. He has long served as the vice president of JD.com, chairman of the Internet Plus Finance and Taxation Alliance, founder and chairman of many companies. He has been appointed as a graduate advisor at School of Economics, Peking University, and School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University and other institutions, and is a promoter of electronic invoices in China.

Since he was diagnosed with ALS in 2019, Mr. Cai Lei has established the world's largest patient-centered 360-degree life cycle ALS scientific research data platform, which linked more than 15,000 patients. He initiated body donation and built China’s first pathological research sample bank. He collaborated with the BGI Group and the Supercomputing Center at the Chinese Academy of Sciences to build and analyze the large-scale gene libraries for ALS patients, which has resulted in new discoveries in the study of genetic causes. Mr. Cai Lei accelerated preclinical and clinical trials rapidly through data systems and collaboration with various stakeholders. Currently he has sponsored and directly promoted over 100 pipelines for drugs and treatments for ALS.

蔡磊先生是渐冻症（肌萎缩侧索硬化症）抗争者，两百万册畅销书《相信》作者，第二次冰桶挑战发起人，攻克渐冻症慈善信托创立者，“破冰驿站”直播电商平台创始人。蔡磊先生曾在政府机关和不同行业的企业工作，并担任过跨国企业集团总部、龙头地产企业、上市互联网企业集团高管。曾长期担任京东集团副总裁、互联网+财税联盟会长、多家公司的创始人和董事长，被聘为北京大学经济学院、清华大学经管学院等院校研究生导师，是中国电子发票推动者。自确诊渐冻症四年多来，蔡磊建立了世界最大的以患者为中心360度全生命周期的渐冻症科研数据平台，并链接了超过一万五千名患者；带头并呼吁千人志愿遗体和脑脊髓组织捐献，从0到1推动建立了中国的渐冻症病理科研样本库；携手华大集团、中国科学院超算中心进行渐冻症患者规模化开放基因库建设和分析，目前已经实现基因层面病因研究的新发现；通过数据系统和携手各方极速加快了临床前和临床试验，目前已合作及直接推动了一百多条渐冻症药物和治疗管线。荣获改革开放40周年“中国改革贡献人物”、2020中国新经济领军人物、2023年度企业家、2023-2024十大经济年度人物暨中国经济新闻人物等称号。
