Thanks for visiting our team page. Together we are challenging ALS and making a difference in the lives of those impacted by this devastating disease. We support ALS Network and the Jim Tracy 5K, Walk and Roll to Cure ALS, in honor of our beloved Track and Field coach, Jim Tracy, who lived with ALS until 2014.
Coach Tracy’s “never give up” spirit has inspired us all, including Holland Reynolds’ famous crawl that made national headlines and was attributed to the Superbowl XLVI championship. In recognition of his accomplishments, Jim was inducted into the San Francisco Prep Hall of Fame in 2013, and was the subject of an award-winning documentary, Running for Jim.
Jim applied that same disciplined mentality to his fight against ALS before losing his battle to the disease. It was his dedication to us and instilling the value of trying your best, no matter what, that continues year after year to inspire new classes of UHS athletes to devote their efforts to end ALS in his memory.
After Jim’s death, former Cross-country team captain Wyeth Coulter, along with Julia Lu, and our fellow teammates established an ongoing tribute in his honor in 2015, the Jim Tracy 5K. For the past decade, the students of SFUHS have help to lead this important community event to great heights each year. Learn more about the 10 years of JT5K committee chairs.
Please join us as we celebrate Jim's legacy and fight to end ALS in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Jim Tracy 5K! Become a part of our Team or make a donation towards our goal today. Or even better - do both!
