What is ALS?
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It slowly robs a person of the ability to walk, speak, swallow, and, eventually, breathe.
There is no known cause or cure for ALS.
To discover prevention strategies, treatments, and cures for ALS and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. Everything we do advances the search for effective treatments and cures for ALS.
